Orphaned Pitbull Puppy Adopted By Mama Cat

A mama cat caring for four of her own newborn kittens is nursing an orphaned week-old Pitbull puppy at the Cleveland Animal Protection League in Ohio.

Noland the pup was dropped off at the animal shelter last week when he was just a day old, said to have been rejected by his mother. Mama kitty Lurlene has accepted Noland as her own along side her other babies and mothers the puppy for about 9 hours a day.
The staff decided to place Noland with the nursing cat and her litter because bottle feeding doesn’t always work.

APL President Sharon Harvey said, “Pups that old without their mom… their survival rate is pretty iffy,” in explanation of why they decided to see if Lurlene would accept Noland into her litter. Lurlene and the kittens welcomed him with no problems.

“Lurlene loves him,” said Harvey. “It’s so adorable.”

Noland will remain with the APL for as long as it takes to make sure he is strong, healthy and ready to be adopted.
